Network Engineer

Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to pass back ground investigations

NIS is seeking an experienced Network Engineer with specialized skills in ArcSight to support the client in a Network Operations Center. The Network Engineer will be part of the computer network defense and security services team that will ensure the availability, integrity and confidentiality of the information and systems used in planning, coordinating, directing, controlling, and sustaining operations . The Network Engineer shall be responsible for evaluation, design, installation, and maintenance of a wide range of the network and telecommunication components and systems . Working closely with the other Network Engineering staff, the candidate will identify, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex and difficult network, security, hardware, and cross-team issues and communicate changes with other organizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct operational responsibility to:
* Monitor network security and compliance using the ArcSight management product
* Monitor network stability and performance, and manage Top Level Architecture (TLA) configurations - ensuring 24x7 operations and resolving service impacts as they occur
* Manage the remote network access via TSACS, VPN, and Common Access Card (CAC) certificates
* Manage Access Control Lists (ACLs), Firewall, and Protected Domain Name Service (P-DNS) without disruption to service
* Perform the configuration and tuning of Network infrastructure including firewalls, routers, switches, load balancer s
* Respond, identify, prioritize, and isolate, the determination and resolution of significant problem events through the use of network management tools, test equipment and/or the diagnostic capabilities of firewalls, routers, switches, and telecommunications transport equipment
* Devise solutions to complex operational problems within the capacity and operational constraints of installed equipment.
* Discover and investigate suspect behavior, including application performance and availability analysis
* Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks
* Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Must have 5+ years of experience in Network Administration/Engineering, Security and Systems Administration
* Must be IAT-II (Security+) Certified
* Must be ArcSight Certified Integrator/Administrator, and Cisco Certified Network Architect (CCNA) or Microsoft Certified Engineer (MSCE)
* Must have familiarity with a wide variety of computer applications and operating systems in a mixed Solaris, Linux and Microsoft Network Operating System infrastructure
* Ability to provide network support outside of core networking areas/strengths to include potential exposure with VOIP, SAN/NAS, IPS, IDS, Active Directory, Exchange, IIS, Disaster Recovery Strategies, etc.
* In-depth knowledge of Cisco Routers and Switches
* Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN/DMZ connections and segregations
* Strong knowledge of routing protocols including VRRP, BGP, iBGP, HSRP, RSTP, RIP, SIP and Multicast
* High level of experience implementing and administrating common TCP/IP-based services, including DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, SMTP, OSPF, VPN, IPSEC etc
* Ability to troubleshoot a wide array of system, networking and hardware problems
* Must possess exceptional team work skills and will have extensive experience working with senior customers.
* Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
* Must possess an active Secret Clearance

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Lean Six Sigma Certification (LSS), ISO-IEC Certification for Information Technology Service Management or equivalent experience is preferred
* Ability to perform effectively in a fast paced environment with short timelines
* Ability to maintain a professional and courteous manner in difficult situations
* Ability to maintain high quality work to manage multiple critical projects
* Ability to perform and participate in a team oriented environment
* Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of network users

REQUIRED EDUCATION (INCLUDING MAJOR)
* Bachelor of Science/Arts Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or Science or Mathematics (or equivalent work experience)
